10 Bathroom Tile Trends for 2019

By December 11, 2018Uncategorised

One of the easier and more cost-efficient ways to update a Kitchen or Bathroom is to change out the tile. Whether it’s the backsplash, tile surround or floor, switching out the tile can take your home from boo to whoo hoo!

Here is a quick peek at Tile trends for 2019…

These daring tiles made a splash in 2017 and seem to be gaining ground. Often colourful or mixed pattern, the tiles are used as a feature point in the room. In 2019 expect to see this more and more often in Show Homes.

Honeycomb (or Hexagon) will be the number one trend of 2019. Almost every trend on this list can be found in a Honeycomb Shape. Varying in sizes and textures these geometric shapes are showing up in all kinds of design.

Bringing together a cohesive design using multiple styles of tiles within the same colour scheme is becoming more popular. Gone are the days of having one kind of tile throughout your entire home. Use a bold pattern in the shower and muted honeycombs in the same colour palette to offer a fresh design statement.

Browns have been a no zone for quite a few years, but it seems that warmer tones are slowly starting to push their way back onto the scene. It is important when considering this trend to choose a modern shape tile.

Subway is classic, if you are ever at a loss for what to do a simple subway tile will always work. For 2019 this fresh update on the old classic is hot. With multiple ways of installing the tile, this look can work in many different design themes.

Though this trend emerged in 2016, it is hanging on. Especially pretty and bold when done in jewel tones, this tile can offer a softer alternative to the straight lines of Subway or Honeycomb shapes. Fish Scale is also really pretty when done on the floor in an oversized pattern.

Best used with subway tile, this is another spin on the classic. Vertical Subway Tile can be used side-by-side with horizontal subway as a feature wall or by itself for an updated look.

Colour lovers everywhere are going to be thrilled with this trend. Jewel tones are popping up in every single area of design. These rich beautiful colours can be paired with dark or light colour palettes and when done tastefully are absolutely dreamy.

Trending for years, the modern farmhouse look doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Simple, clean and cozy with industrial elements this classic look seems to be liked by everyone. Make it fresh by incorporating honeycomb, wood texture or even some bold patterned tiles.

Labeled as ‘Cocooning’ on one design blog, the desire to bring the outdoors in has never been stronger. Many people use wood texture tiles on the floor for durability but it is also being used as a way to craft our homes with a retreat lifestyle in mind.
